Short answer: pick OP.GG if you want to look things up: any player's match history, your lobby in one multi-search, champion tiers and builds, plus a desktop app that sets runes and items for you. Pick Mobalytics if you want to be told what to fix: its GPI score and matchup advice exist to change how you play. OP.GG is also cheaper to use without ads ($3.00 per month) and is the only one of the two with a macOS app.

One disclosure before going further: we build Hexgate, an in-game build overlay for League of Legends. It shows up below as a third option for one specific job that neither app you searched for is built around. Everything else is a straight comparison, with prices taken from each company's own pricing page.

The two subscriptions buy different things. OP.GG's is an ad remover with small extras; the tool itself is free. Mobalytics Plus is where its coaching features live, so the free version is closer to a preview.

The Core Difference

OP.GG is the stats site most League players already have bookmarked. It shows summoner profiles and match history for almost any server, regional leaderboards, champion tiers with win, pick and ban rates, builds and runes, and a multi-search that checks all your teammates at once. OP.GG Desktop is a standalone app (it does not need the Overwolf client) that auto-sets runes and items, shows which skill to level and overlays a CS and gold comparison in game. It also covers TFT and Valorant.

Mobalytics was built, in its own words, because stats alone do not tell you how to improve. It reads your games into the Gamer Performance Index, a set of skill scores (farming, fighting, vision, survivability and more) you can track over time. The Live Companion prepares the next game with player information, matchup advice and build recommendations; Plus adds champion combos, challenges and Smart Highlights of your best plays.

Put simply: OP.GG gives you the numbers, Mobalytics tries to tell you what they mean for you.

OP.GG: Strengths and Weak Spots

OP.GG's strength is breadth and speed. Looking up an opponent, checking a duo partner's recent form or reading a champion's tier takes seconds, and the multi-search is still the quickest way to size up a lobby. The desktop app is free, standalone and available on Windows and macOS. The weak spots: the free experience is ad-supported, the desktop app's overlays work on Windows only, and OP.GG leaves the interpretation to you. It will show that your deaths are high; it will not build you a plan to fix them.

Mobalytics: Strengths and Weak Spots

Mobalytics' strength is the feedback loop. GPI turns a long match history into a few skills to work on, and matchup advice tells you how to play the lane in front of you. It covers League, TFT, Valorant and more under one Plus subscription. The weak spots: Mobalytics Desktop runs on Overwolf, so you run a host platform plus the app alongside League; the free tier shows ads; and the full coaching layer is the pricier plan here, .99 per month or .83 per month paid yearly.

Install Weight

OP.GG Desktop installs on its own; the Overwolf store even labels it "a standalone app" that does not require the Overwolf client. Mobalytics Desktop is an Overwolf app, so it brings the Overwolf platform with it. On a strong PC neither will matter. On a 16 GB laptop running League, Discord and a browser, the lighter install is worth choosing on purpose, and you can still use Mobalytics' GPI on its website between sessions.

Riot Safety

Both are mainstream, long-running League tools that work from Riot's official data and stay within Riot's third-party rules. Neither changes game files or automates input, so neither will get your account banned. Details in can you get banned for LoL apps.

The Gap Both Share: The Game You Are Actually In

OP.GG's builds are the highest win rate builds for your champion this patch. Mobalytics' are its recommended builds with matchup advice on top. Both are decided before the game from thousands of other games, so the build is the same whether the enemy team is four AD champions or five mages.

Hexgate is built for that moment. During the game it reads the enemy team from Riot's Live Client Data API and reorders your situational item slots against their damage split, crowd control, healing, shields, tankiness and who is fed, and it shows the reason for every change. Your first core items stay data-driven.

Hexgate is a native Tauri/Rust app for Windows: no Overwolf, no Electron, typically under 100 MB of memory, and no ads, including on the free tier. Free is 3 games per day with item recommendations and one-click rune import; Pro is €4.99 per month (€3.74 per month billed annually) for unlimited games, lane matchup scoring and one-trick builds; Pro+ is €9.99 per month and adds Lane Scouting, a Match Breakdown of every ranked game and Clips of every death. It is not a stats site or a coach: no match history lookup, no tier lists, no GPI. Pair it with either.

Which One Should You Pick?

Pick OP.GG if you want fast lookups and a free, light app.

Match history, multi-search, tiers and auto-set runes and items, standalone on Windows and Mac, and $3.00 a month if you want the ads gone.

Pick Mobalytics if you want to know what to fix.

GPI and matchup advice give you a plan, not just numbers. Accept Overwolf, the ads on free and $5.83 to $9.99 a month for the full coaching layer.

Add Hexgate if your build never reacts to the enemy team.

Both apps hand you the average build. Hexgate adapts it during the game, with no Overwolf and no ads, and sits fine next to either one.

Final Thoughts
