Most "best LoL app" lists compare feature counts. That misses the one question that decides whether a build app makes you win more: when the enemy team is five AD champions, three healers or a full tank frontline, does your build change? For most apps, it does not. They import the most popular build for your champion and role, which is a good starting point and the same build every game.
So this roundup sorts the 7 build apps players install most by that question first, then by platform, ads and price. Everything about other apps comes from their own websites or store pages, as of October 2, 2026.
Disclosure: we build Hexgate, the first entry. It is first because it was built for exactly this question, and its section lists what it does not do.

Why "Adaptive" Is the Feature That Matters
The popular build for your champion is the average of thousands of games against every possible enemy team. Your game is against one specific team. The early core items are mostly settled before the game starts, which is why every app agrees on them. The last two or three items are where games get decided: armor or magic resist, anti-heal or not, tenacity or not. Those choices depend on the five enemies you face, and an import made in champion select cannot see how the game is going. If you want the reasoning behind each choice, see how to counter-build and our what to build against guide for the champions people ask about most.
1. Hexgate: Items That Adapt to the Enemy Team
Hexgate reads the enemy team from Riot's Live Client Data API during your game and re-scores the items that are viable for your champion and build slot against them: their damage split, crowd control, healing, shields, tankiness and who is fed. The candidate pool always comes from what players actually build on your champion, so the enemy team reorders real options instead of inventing odd ones. Every change carries a label telling you why (Healing, Heavy AD, Heavy CC, High HP, Shields), so you learn the rule while you play.
- Also includes: one-click rune import (optionally with summoner spells), counters and ban targets in champion select, and ARAM Mayhem augment tier badges on every augment card.
- Platform: native Windows app (Tauri/Rust), typically under 100 MB of memory, no Overwolf, no Electron.
- Price: free for 3 games per day with no ads. Pro (4.99 EUR/month, 3.74 EUR/month billed annually) adds unlimited games, matchup runes and one-trick builds. Pro+ (9.99 EUR/month) adds Lane Scouting and an AI breakdown of every ranked game.
- What it does not do: no jungle timers, no TFT or other games, no Mac version, and no rank lookup of the enemy lobby.
2. U.GG: The Cleanest Import
U.GG's app auto-imports loadouts "tailored by elo, role, and matchup" and shows builds in game. It is free, and the business runs on the website. If you only want the right runes and starting items with zero clutter, it is the simplest choice. The build is decided in champion select, so it will not react if the game goes differently than the draft suggested. We compared it in depth in Hexgate vs U.GG.
3. OP.GG Desktop: Free All-Rounder
OP.GG Desktop is a standalone Electron app that sets runes and items automatically, shows the most popular builds in an in-game overlay, and has an augment tier overlay for modes with augments. Free with ads. Full comparison: Hexgate vs OP.GG.
4. Blitz: Feature-Rich Importer
Blitz imports runes, items and summoner spells, has a long list of overlays including an ARAM Mayhem augment tier list on the pick screen, and supports several games. Free with ads; Premium removes ads and adds Masters+ builds and one-trick builds in game, at a price that varies by region. See Blitz alternatives if it is not working out for you.
5. Mobalytics: Import Plus Coaching
Mobalytics imports runes, spells and items manually or automatically, and its strength is the long-term side: the GPI score breaks your play into eight areas such as farming, fighting and vision. It runs on Overwolf, free with ads, with a Plus subscription. More in Mobalytics alternatives.
6. Porofessor: Scouting First
Porofessor is a scouting app first: ranks, tags and recent form of every player in your game. It imports runes and shows lane matchup win rates, but it does not try to change your items during the game. Since December 2025 it comes as a standalone app as well as on Overwolf.
7. iTero: AI Draft Coach
iTero focuses on the draft: it suggests picks, runes and items in champion select, with one-click import and a post-game review. It is available on Overwolf and as a standalone download, free with ads, with a paid ad-free tier.

How to Check Whether a Build App Really Adapts
"Adaptive" is easy to claim. A quick way to check any app yourself:
- Play the same champion in two games against very different teams, for example one heavy on magic damage and one heavy on physical damage.
- Compare the last three recommended items between the two games. If they are identical, the app is importing a default, whatever its marketing says.
- Check whether the app tells you why an item moved. A reason you can read is how you know the change is a response to the enemy team and not noise, and it is how you learn to make the call yourself.
Running more than one app? That works if they do different jobs, for example Porofessor for scouting and Hexgate for items. Turn off rune import in all but one of them, or they will fight over your rune page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best League of Legends build app?
It depends on what you want from it. For items that change with the enemy team during the game, Hexgate. For the simplest one-click import of the highest win rate build, U.GG. For a free all-in-one app with overlays, OP.GG Desktop or Blitz. For builds plus long-term coaching, Mobalytics.
Is there an app that changes my build based on the enemy team?
Yes. Hexgate reads the five enemies from Riot's Live Client Data API during your game and re-ranks your situational items against their damage split, crowd control, healing, shields, tankiness and fed threats, with a label on every change. The popular importers (Blitz, Mobalytics, OP.GG, U.GG, Porofessor) import a statistics-based build before the game instead.
Do I need Overwolf for a League build app?
No. Hexgate, OP.GG Desktop and Blitz run without Overwolf, and Porofessor and iTero now offer standalone downloads too. Mobalytics is distributed through Overwolf.
Are League build apps allowed by Riot?
Apps that read Riot's APIs and the League client to import runes and show builds are a normal, long-standing use. What Riot prohibits is automation, exposing hidden information and similar advantages. Our guide on whether you can get banned for LoL apps quotes the rules directly.
Which build apps are free without ads?
Hexgate's free tier (3 games per day) has no ads, and U.GG's app is free with the business running on its website. Blitz, Mobalytics, Porofessor, OP.GG Desktop and iTero are ad-supported on their free tiers.
