Short version, keyed to the reason you are leaving Blitz. If it is RAM usage or stutter, switch to Hexgate, the only native app in this list. If it is ads and upsells, Hexgate or U.GG, the two entries with no ads. If you want builds that respond to the enemy team instead of the same import every game, Hexgate again. If you want to keep the everything-app experience but on a different platform, OP.GG Desktop is the closest free match. If you want better scouting, Porofessor; if you want real post-game coaching, Mobalytics.
Disclosure: we build Hexgate, which is the first entry below. We have listed it first because it is the honest answer to the two most common reasons people leave Blitz (performance and static builds), not because it does everything Blitz does. It very much does not, and the section on it says so plainly. Every other app here is recommended because it genuinely beats Blitz at one thing.
Pick by Reason
| You are leaving Blitz because... | Switch to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| It eats RAM or causes stutter | Hexgate | Native Tauri/Rust, typically under 100 MB, no Electron, no Overwolf |
| Ads and premium upsells | Hexgate or U.GG | Hexgate: no ads on the free tier. U.GG: free, ad-funded website, not the app |
| The build never changes with the enemy team | Hexgate | Re-scores items live against the enemy comp, every nudge labeled |
| You want the all-in-one feel, free, elsewhere | OP.GG Desktop | Rune and build import, Shift+Tab overlay, spell timers, TFT and Valorant |
| You want to know who is in the lobby | Porofessor | Best live game scouting in the ecosystem |
| You want to actually get better, not just win tonight | Mobalytics | GPI performance analysis and post-game review |
1. Hexgate - Best for Adaptive Builds and the Lowest Footprint
Best for: players whose complaint with Blitz is performance, ads, or the fact that the imported build is identical whether the enemy is five AD champions or a triple-tank frontline.
Hexgate is a narrow tool by design. It is an in-game overlay that reads the enemy team from Riot's Live Client Data API and re-scores every viable item for your champion and build slot against the five enemies you are actually facing. Early core items are driven by pick rate, because those decisions are mostly settled before the game starts. The situational slots are where it works: they adapt to the enemy damage split, crowd control, healing, shields, tankiness and who is fed. Four AD threats push armor up. A 7/0 enemy assassin pushes anti-burst up. Stacked healing pushes Grievous Wounds up. Every one of those nudges carries a label in the overlay telling you why, so you are learning the reasoning, not just following an arrow.
What you gain vs Blitz: the footprint, first. Hexgate is a native Tauri/Rust app, typically under 100 MB of memory, with no Electron and no Overwolf. If Blitz was pushing your machine into frame drops, this is the fix. Second, no ads on the free tier. Third, builds that change with the game, which is the one thing no static importer does. One-click rune import is included free. Pro adds lane matchup scoring and OTP builds (what one-trick players actually build on your champion).
What you lose vs Blitz: a lot of breadth. Hexgate has no jungle timers, no ultimate tracking, no teammate spell timers, no post-game analytics, no performance tracking, and no support for TFT, Valorant or any other game. It is Windows only. The free tier is 3 games per day; Pro is 4.99 EUR per month, or 3.74 EUR per month billed annually. If you used Blitz mostly for the timers and the post-game screens, Hexgate does not replace those, and you should pair it with something else or look further down this list.
2. Mobalytics - Best for Coaching and Post-Game Analysis
Best for: players who found Blitz's post-game stats too shallow and want a tool built around long-term improvement.
Mobalytics is the improvement platform of the group. Its Gamer Performance Index (GPI) breaks your play into measurable categories such as farming, fighting, vision, survivability, aggression and consistency, and scores each one over time. It is the most serious attempt in the ecosystem at telling you why you lost rather than just that you did. The pre-game scouting is strong too, with opponent breakdowns, champion pools and recent form, and the overlay adds CS benchmarks, power spike timers and objective reminders. We compared it in depth against Blitz in Hexgate vs Blitz vs Mobalytics.
What you gain vs Blitz: the deepest analytics available and a feedback loop that actually points at your weaknesses. Blitz's benchmarks are a summary; Mobalytics is a training plan.
What you lose vs Blitz: this is not the answer if performance was your problem. Mobalytics runs on Overwolf, so you have two processes on top of League, and memory usage has been reported around 1,400 MB with spikes toward 2,000 MB in game. It is heavier than Blitz, not lighter. The free tier is ad-supported and reviews describe the ads as aggressive, with the GG+ subscription (about $7.99 per month) removing them. Builds are static aggregates, the same as Blitz. And the overlay can feel crowded on smaller screens.
3. Porofessor - Best for Live Game Scouting
Best for: players who mostly used Blitz's loading screen lookup and want the strongest version of that.
Porofessor answers one question better than anything else: who is in this lobby? Within seconds of champ select you get every player's rank, win rate, games this season, main role and behavioral tags: on a loss streak, autofilled, one-tricking a champion. Knowing the enemy top laner is off-role changes how your jungler paths. Knowing the enemy ADC is on a ten-game win streak tells you which side of the map to play through. It also ships jungle timers, ward timers and objective reminders, and it is backed by the League of Graphs team, so the underlying data has a long track record. Full breakdown in Hexgate vs Porofessor.
What you gain vs Blitz: scouting depth. Blitz shows you ranks and recent performance on the loading screen; Porofessor turns that into a full read of where the pressure in the game will come from.
What you lose vs Blitz: Porofessor requires Overwolf, so like Mobalytics it is a host platform plus an app, and the overhead is noticeable on 16 GB machines. The free tier is ad-supported. Recent reviews describe the app as feeling dated with more frequent error reports than in its prime. It is an information tool, not a build tool: it can show popular builds the way any stats site does, but nothing in it looks at the enemy comp and tells you to build magic resist this game. If you are leaving Blitz for performance reasons, Porofessor is a sideways move at best.
4. OP.GG Desktop - Best Free All-Rounder with the Stats Platform Built In
Best for: players who like the Blitz formula (import runes, overlay, timers, multiple games) and just want it from a different, free app.
OP.GG is the reference stats site of the whole player base, and the desktop app moves that into the client: automatic rune and build import in champ select, a Shift+Tab in-game overlay with builds, opponent data and spell timers, plus TFT and Valorant support. Windows and macOS. Free. If you are leaving Blitz but do not want to give up the all-in-one experience, this is the closest thing to a like-for-like replacement. Our full comparison: Hexgate vs OP.GG.
What you gain vs Blitz: the data everyone already argues from, surfaced in the client, from a platform you almost certainly use in the browser anyway. No subscription needed for the core app.
What you lose vs Blitz: not much in features, but also not much of what drove you away. OP.GG Desktop is an Electron app with a browser engine's worth of memory, and the free experience carries the platform's ads. Its build recommendations are patch-level aggregates that ignore your actual lobby, exactly like Blitz. It fixes "I do not like Blitz specifically"; it does not fix RAM, ads or static builds.
5. U.GG - Best for Simple, Free Build Imports
Best for: players who only ever used Blitz for the rune and build import and want that with zero clutter.
U.GG built its reputation on being the fastest, cleanest place to grab the highest win rate build, and the desktop app does exactly one job: it detects your champion in select and imports runes and item sets automatically. No overlay, no timers, no widgets. Builds on the website filter by rank tier and region, and the site covers runes, skill order, matchups and counters for every champion. The app is free, with the business running on the website. Details in Hexgate vs U.GG.
What you gain vs Blitz: friction removed. No ads in the app, no upsells, no feature you did not ask for. For a lot of players this is the entire requirement.
What you lose vs Blitz: everything in-game. U.GG's job ends when the loading screen ends; there is no live overlay reading your game state, no timers, no scouting, no post-game. And the build it imports is the same static aggregate Blitz gives you, decided before minion one. If the enemy turns out to be five AD champions, nothing updates.

Is Blitz Safe? Does Blitz Use Overwolf?
Two questions that come up in almost every "should I switch" thread, so let us settle them before you uninstall anything for the wrong reason.
Does Blitz use Overwolf? No. Blitz is a standalone Electron desktop app. You do not need Overwolf installed to run it, and it does not install Overwolf alongside itself. People mix this up because two other big overlays (Mobalytics and Porofessor) do run on Overwolf, and because Electron and Overwolf have a similar cost: both bundle a browser engine, which is where the RAM goes. If you are leaving Blitz specifically to escape Overwolf, you were never on it, and switching to Mobalytics or Porofessor would put you on it.
Is Blitz safe to use? Yes. Blitz operates within Riot's third-party tool policy: it reads publicly available match data and Riot's local client APIs, and it does not modify game files, read game memory, inject into the game process or automate inputs. Riot's rules target tools that expose hidden information or automate gameplay, and Blitz does neither. Using it will not get you banned. That is equally true of every app in this article, which all use the same official mechanisms (the League client API for rune import, and in Hexgate's case the Live Client Data API that Riot exposes locally during a game). The tools that do get accounts banned are the ones promising scripting or automation, and none of them are on this page.
How to Actually Choose
Ignore feature counts and start from the thing that made you open this article:
- Stutter, frame drops, a fan that spins up when Blitz launches: Hexgate. It is the only native app here; everything else is Electron or Overwolf.
- Ads and upsells: Hexgate if you want an in-game overlay, U.GG if you only need the import.
- You build the same items every game no matter the enemy: Hexgate. That leak is the whole reason it exists, and no other app on this list closes it. If you want to understand the skill it automates, read how to counter-build.
- You liked Blitz, you just want it from someone else: OP.GG Desktop.
- Champ select information decides your games: Porofessor.
- You want to improve over months, not just tonight: Mobalytics.
Pairing is legitimate too. The apps that do not overlap combine well: Porofessor for scouting before the game plus Hexgate for itemization during it, or the U.GG website for study between sessions plus Hexgate in game. Two things to watch if you run more than one: total memory, and two apps both trying to auto-import runes, in which case turn it off in one of them.
On performance: with 16 GB of RAM or more and comfortable FPS, run whichever tools you like. Below that, every Electron or Overwolf app is a real cost, and a light standalone overlay is the only replacement that actually improves the situation rather than moving it around.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Blitz use Overwolf?
No. Blitz is a standalone Electron desktop app, not an Overwolf app. You do not need Overwolf installed to run it. Mobalytics and Porofessor are the two apps in this list that run on Overwolf; Hexgate, OP.GG Desktop and U.GG are standalone like Blitz.
Is Blitz safe to use?
Yes. Blitz operates within Riot's third-party tool policy: it reads public match data and Riot's local client APIs, and it does not modify game files, read game memory or automate inputs. Using Blitz will not get you banned. The same is true of every alternative in this article. The tools that do get accounts banned are scripting and automation tools, and none of them are here.
What is the lightest alternative to Blitz?
Hexgate. It is a native Tauri/Rust app that typically stays under 100 MB of memory, with no Overwolf and no Electron. Blitz and OP.GG Desktop are Electron apps, and Mobalytics and Porofessor run on top of Overwolf, so each of those carries a browser engine's worth of overhead alongside League.
Which Blitz alternative has no ads?
Hexgate has no ads on its free tier (3 games per day). Mobalytics, Porofessor and OP.GG Desktop are ad-supported on their free tiers. U.GG's app is free and funded by its website. If ads are the main reason you are leaving Blitz, Hexgate and U.GG are the two entries that avoid them entirely.
Is Blitz Premium worth it?
It depends on why you are unhappy. Premium removes the ads, so if that was your only complaint and you like the rest of Blitz, it can be. It does not change how Blitz recommends builds (they stay static, the same for every game) and it does not turn Blitz into a lighter app, so if RAM usage or non-adaptive builds are the problem, a different app fixes it and Premium does not.
